About Me
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at LERO – the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software at the University of Limerick, Ireland. My work focuses on Kind Computing – designing digital technologies that promote kindness. I explore how digital systems can represent kindness by leveraging psycho-social factors such as empathy, trust, and context. Currently, I'm exploring these concepts within microgrid-based renewable energy communities, where technology can facilitate compassionate and equitable resource sharing.
My broader research interests span intelligent transportation systems, self-adaptive and self-aware systems, cyber-physical systems, software-defined networks, and kind-aware digital platforms. I believe that technology should not only be intelligent but also socially responsible and human-centered.
Previous Role: Before joining the University of Limerick, I served as Assistant Professor at Abdul Wali Khan University, Pakistan (2019–2025), where I co-directed the AWKUM AI Lab and coordinated undergraduate final-year projects.
My research has been published in leading IEEE venues, including the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, and IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems. I actively contribute to the research community by serving on Technical Program Committees for conferences such as IEEE ACSOS, IEEE COINS, and IEEE ICACS, and reviewing for prestigious journals including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Access, and Elsevier Neurocomputing.
PhD Highlight: I completed my PhD in Mobile Cloud Computing at Aston University, UK (2019), where I used AI and optimization techniques to enhance energy efficiency in mobile-cloud applications for phones and robots. My research garnered international media attention, with features in the Daily Mail (UK), BBC (UK), Xinhua News Agency (China), Hindustan Times (India), and The News (Pakistan).
I am passionate about research and creating technology that is intelligent, secure, and ethical – technology that understands human needs and responds with kindness. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative research, I strive to contribute to a future where digital systems enhance human well-being and social harmony.
